RCB, UAB and ADPH Welcome Cervical Cancer Elimination Advocates for OPERATION WIPE OUT Summit

On Friday, January 31st, the Rotary Club of Birmingham, UAB and the Alabama Department of Public Health partnered to welcome over 180 healthcare providers, public health leaders, Rotarians, and community advocates focused on eliminating cervical cancer as a public health problem in Alabama to The Harbert Center for the second OPERATION WIPE OUT Summit.
Attendees representing 33 Alabama counties gained knowledge, resources and connections to support cervical cancer prevention, screening and treatment in their local communities from experts including Rotarian Isabel Scarinci, Vice-Chair for Global and Rural Health, UAB Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Dr. Scott Harris, State Health Officer, Alabama Department of Public Health; Dr. Warner Huh, Chair, UAB Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology; and Nancy Wright, Director, Cancer Prevention and Control Division, Alabama Department of Public Health; Bruce Rogers, RCB President; Lora Blalock, RCB Executive Director; and David Allgood, RI District 6860 District Governor.
Thanks to Rotary Club of Birmingham OPERATION WIPE OUT Committee members who planned and executed a wonderful day of learning and connection.
